How It Works
From your first call to the finished job — a clear walkthrough of working with Osprey Handyman.
Hiring a handyman shouldn't be complicated. At Osprey Handyman, the process is straightforward — you tell us what needs to be done, we tell you what it costs, and we show up and do it. Here's exactly what to expect at each step, from your first contact through completed payment.
Contact Us
- —
Call us at (941) 205-3921 or submit a request through the contact form on this site. Either way works — we respond to both.
- —
When you reach out, give us a brief description of the work: what needs to be done, where the property is located in Sarasota County, and whether there's any urgency.
- —
We're available Mon–Fri 6am–10pm and Sat–Sun 7:30am–9:30pm. If you call outside those hours, leave a voicemail and we'll return your call first thing.
Describe the Job
- —
For most smaller jobs, we can provide a rough estimate over the phone or by email based on your description. For larger or more complex work, we may schedule a quick in-person look before quoting.
- —
We'll ask a few straightforward questions: What does the problem look like? What have you already tried? Is there access to the work area? Do you have any preferred products or materials?
- —
If the job requires materials, we'll discuss that during the estimate so there are no surprises about cost.
Receive Your Quote
- —
We provide clear, written quotes before any work begins. The quote covers labor and any materials we'll need to source on your behalf.
- —
Pricing is flat-rate or hourly depending on the job type. We'll tell you which applies and why. There are no hidden fees and no upselling.
- —
If we find something unexpected once the job is underway, we'll stop and discuss it with you before proceeding. The original quote doesn't change without your approval.
Schedule the Work
- —
Once you've accepted the quote, we'll find a date and time that works for your schedule. We typically have availability within a few business days for standard jobs.
- —
We'll confirm the appointment date and let you know a realistic arrival window — usually a one-hour window so you're not stuck waiting all morning.
- —
If anything changes on our end before your appointment, we'll contact you immediately to reschedule. We do not cancel day-of without a genuine emergency.
Job Day
- —
Evan arrives on time, introduces himself, does a quick walk-through of the work, and gets started. No unnecessary interruptions, no noise beyond what's required.
- —
We clean up after every job. Tools and materials are removed, dust and debris are cleared, and the work area is left in the same or better condition than we found it.
- —
Once the job is complete, we'll walk you through the finished work and answer any questions. If something doesn't look right to you, say so — we'd rather address it on the spot than come back later.
Payment
- —
Payment is due upon job completion. We accept cash and check. For larger jobs, we may request a partial deposit upfront to cover material costs — this will be discussed during the quote.
- —
We do not charge more than the quoted price without your explicit approval. The invoice you receive reflects the work that was done, with no mystery line items.
- —
If you have questions about the invoice, just ask. We're a small operation and we'd rather keep your business than argue over a bill.
